Hey, all. This is a comic I started on 24 Hour Comic Day, but I only managed to complete 12 pages on that day. That makes it a technical failure, but I decided it was worth finishing…

I love this comic and I come back to it all the time. It’s so real – there is no one way to earn a living in comics. For instance, I stay afloat because, on a monthly basis, I

– Write 3 comics for two different publishers, generally
– Write 1-2 graphic novels a year, which is one lump sum
– Do cover art, the pay and frequency for which varies WILDLY
– Do backup strips or guest spots
– Sell my own merch through Topatoco
– Sell at shows and conventions
– Receive royalties from designing merchandise for others
– Occasionally sell through Gumroad or Etsy
– Do strips for ComicsAlliance
– Do a strip for The Nib

It’s a lot of work and it’s not all reliable, I tells ya what.
